Back on Crab Island

We are back on Crab Island. We have to thank Greg Bethune and his staff from Seafaris again as they have been fantastic. Captain Greg craned our zodiac and new supplies into the waters just off the north west corner of Crab Island and we zipped back down the western beach watching crocodiles slide into the water and eager to get back to camp to see what the turtles had been up to over the 2 nights we were away. After ferrying the gear back up to camp we quickly jumped back on the ATV and did a track count. The girls had been busy whilst we were away and we counted close to 500 new tracks from the previous couple of days. There was no time to relax as turtles started emerging from the surf all around us as we attempted to secure the boat for the night! We grabbed our research gear and we were straight back into it! Whilst we had only been away for 2 days, it had felt like 2 weeks and it was great to be back out on the beaches and seeing the old girls again…

We have discovered some amazing things and will update you more shortly when we get a chance…
